Leaders in Education and Health

The College of Education at UT Austin, ranked #8 among public institutions, offers two bachelor’s options for students seeking an undergraduate degree related to health, education or the business of culture, sport and entertainment: a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health. Within these two degrees, the college offers majors ranging from elementary teacher preparation to youth and community studies and applied movement science to sports management. The college also offers more than 15 minors, specializations and tracks that will enrich your undergraduate experience.

Bachelor of Science in Education

The College of Education offers four majors within the Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Through a unique combination of equity-minded coursework, students are guided by expert faculty and practitioners to manage, lead and teach in a variety of educational and communty-based environments. Students who choose one of the Bachelor of Science in Education majors with a teacher preparation component are also on their way to teacher certification at any grade level.

Bilingual Core Subjects/Generalist (Early Childhood – 6th Grade)

English as a Second Language Generalist (Early Childhood – 6th Grade)

Tracks

Tracks are courses in a second field of study designed by the College of Education. Most tracks consist of 15 hours, six of which must be upper-division. Tracks do not appear on yourUT Austin transcript or diploma. They are reflected on your profile record and degree audit.Learn more about the available tracks.

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health

The College of Education offers five majors within the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health degree. Through a combination of physical, health-equity and community-minded learning, KHE students have the opportunity to study a wide-range of areas such as human movement, health behavior and the business and culture of sports. Many of our graduates go on to become physical therapists, teachers, coaches, trainers, researchers and more.

Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training

This degree prepares students to become athletic trainers in the state of Texas who are focused on the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries related to physical activity. Athletic Training is also appropriate for those interested in continuing their education in medicine, sports medicine, physical therapy and other healthcare professions.
